Our Story

Nestled by the Bay of Bengal in the historic temple town of Mahabalipuram, and named after the geographical coordinates of our founder’s favourite culinary melting pot, Vancouver, L’attitude 49 serves up a dazzling array of some of the finest recipes from around the world, all hand-crafted with the freshest local produce.

Just like its inspiration, Vancouver, L’attitude 49 is also a melting pot of exciting cultures and cuisines. Our chefs have curated culinary favourites from their adventures exploring the bustling bylanes of Vancouver, Singapore and the interior villages South India. Long-forgotten recipes are recreated every day with hand-picked vegetables from our very own garden and the fresh catch of the day from the sea whose coast we are perched on!

From the house of Mamalla hotels in Mahabalipuram, heritage at L’attitude 49 is about preserving the finest cooking our chefs have encountered in the far corners of the world, served with love in one of the most ancient sites in Tamil Nadu.

Sit back on our deck for a decadent meal, complete with our signature cocktails and stunning views.

Our Chefs

Chindi’s restaurants are her passion projects, where she loves to recreate her personal memories of her journeys and the layered, nuanced flavours of Asian and continental recipes that she has treasured. In search of authentic recipes, customs and cooking techniques, Chindi has travelled the world – from the global culinary melting-pot of Vancouver, to the bustling streets of Singapore. Chindi also brings an abiding love for slow food practices that bring out the best flavours and textures from ingredients. She believes in eating fresh, locally sourced food. Her days in Vancouver spent browsing farmers’ markets and sourcing fresh salmon from the local fisherfolk led her to fall in love with the possibilities to continue that culture in the beautiful seaside town of Mahabalipuram

Our Chefs

Chef Dhiraj is a connoisseur of heritage South Indian food and puts the nuance back in Heritage South Indian cooking at L’Attitude. He has followed the glorious trail of South Indian cooking for years, collecting secret recipes and long-forgotten techniques that have made him a celebrated part of major chains such as the Taj Group of Hotels, GRT, and CGH Earth.
He loves seafood and the complex flavours of South Indian cooking, and believes that slow cooking and recreating age-old methods without the use of shortcuts, is the perfect antidote to the soulless modern trend of fast food.
When Chindi and Dhiraj meet in our kitchen, what they create is nothing short of a treasure trove of new food stories – a glorious encounter of global and South Indian heritage cuisines.
